Get To Know The People

It is really easy to insult people you have never met on the Internet, and hard to know who they really are from the Internet. I grew up in Japan and heard disputes between Japan and South Korea because of a complex history of war and politics. The news about South Korea from media, especially the Internet made me think that most people from that country are rude and immature. I was silently agreed with people saying bad things about them. After getting to know some friends from South Korea since I came to BYU, I realized I was wrong and overcame my prejudice. Likewise, people being cruel and unkind to people on the Internet without knowing them are likely to be very ashamed of their attitude when they actually meet them.

  1. It is often the case that we judge events based on our own personal Biases. In someways this is a good thing because it allows us to understand each-other. In other ways it builds up false information on others. we should always try to keep our Biases in check. Not all of them are bad. After all, if it weren't for bias, we would never learn.
